Terms of Service

Effective: October 16, 2026

This is an English translation provided for convenience. If there is any difference between this translation and the Korean original, the Korean original prevails.

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the Windows program “SpeechMirror subscription edition” and the related website, account and license management services (the “Service”) provided by HiClone Co., Ltd. (the “Company”), as well as the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Company and users.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. “Service” means the SpeechMirror subscription edition program for Korean pronunciation training, teaching and coaching (pronunciation animation, training material, recording and comparison, pronunciation checks, training records, printable assignments and so on) and the related website (speechmirror.hiclone.net), accounts, license management and updates.
  2. “User” means an individual or organization that agrees to these Terms and uses the Service.
  3. “Account” means a SpeechMirror account that a user creates with an email address and password.
  4. “Free trial” means using the Service for 30 days without paying a fee.
  5. “Subscription” means a paid contract to use the Service for a monthly or yearly fee.
  6. “License” means the electronic right of use issued by the Company's server and stored on the user's PC.
  7. “Paddle” means Paddle.com Market Ltd. and its affiliates, to which the Company has entrusted payment and settlement, and which sells subscriptions to users as the Merchant of Record.

Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. The Company posts these Terms on the Service introduction page (speechmirror.hiclone.net).
  2. The Company may amend these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. When it does, it announces the effective date and the reason for the amendment from 7 days before the effective date (30 days for changes unfavorable to users).
  3. A user who does not agree to the amended Terms may cancel their subscription.

Article 4 (Accounts)

  1. Users must create an account with an email address and password and complete email verification to use the free trial and subscriptions.
  2. Users must keep their account information secure and must not lend or transfer their account to anyone else.
  3. Account authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication by Google LLC. The Company never receives or stores users' passwords.

Article 5 (Provision of the Service)

  1. The Service can be used on PCs running Windows 10 or later. Training content is downloaded from the internet during installation.
  2. The Company may update the program and training content, and lets users know when the program starts that a new version is available.
  3. To check the license, the user's PC must connect to the Company's server from time to time. If 7 days pass since the last check, training features are restricted until the PC connects to the internet and checks again.

Article 6 (Free Trial)

  1. A user who has completed email verification can start a free trial in the program. The trial lasts 30 days from the moment it starts.
  2. The free trial is offered once per account and once per PC, and can be used only on the PC where it was started. It is not offered to accounts that have paid for a subscription.
  3. No payment method is registered for the free trial, and no fee is charged automatically when it ends.
  4. If a user connects a subscription to the same PC during the trial, the trial ends and the subscription period starts at the time of payment. Remaining trial days are not added to the subscription period.

Article 7 (Subscriptions and Payment)

  1. Subscription fees and billing cycles (monthly, yearly) are posted on the Service introduction page. Displayed prices include taxes, and the final amount and currency are shown at checkout.
  2. Subscriptions renew automatically at each billing cycle chosen by the user and are charged to the registered payment method.
  3. One subscription can be used on one PC. To use the Service on several PCs, a user must buy one subscription per PC.
  4. The seller of subscriptions is Paddle. As Merchant of Record, Paddle processes payments, calculates and collects taxes and issues receipts in its own name, so Paddle's name, not the Company's, may appear on card statements. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to payments.
  5. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
  6. If a recurring payment fails, the Company lets the user keep using the Service for 7 days from when Paddle reports the failure. If payment is not made within that time, use of the Service may be restricted.

Article 8 (Withdrawal and Refunds)

  1. A user may request a refund within 14 days of a subscription payment (including automatic renewal payments). The full amount of that payment is then refunded, regardless of use. A refunded subscription is cancelled and its license is revoked.
  2. For a yearly subscription, a user may also cancel and request a refund after the period in paragraph 1. In that case, the Company refunds the payment minus the amount for the days used up to the cancellation date and 10% of the price of the remaining period (a year counts as 365 days), and use ends on the cancellation date. Example: for a yearly subscription of US$390 cancelled after 100 days of use, about US$255 is refunded (for ₩490,000, about ₩320,000).
  3. For a monthly subscription, no refund is given after the period in paragraph 1. When it is cancelled, no fee is charged from the next billing date, and the Service can be used until the end of the period already paid for.
  4. Separately from the above, where applicable law grants withdrawal or a refund (for example, when the Service differs from what was displayed or advertised, or is provided differently from the contract), the law applies.
  5. Refund requests are accepted at customer support (info@hiclone.net) or Paddle buyer support (paddle.net), and Paddle processes refunds to the payment method used.
  6. The license of a subscription whose payment is reversed (chargeback) is revoked.

Article 9 (Cancelling a Subscription)

  1. Users can cancel their subscription at any time on the My account page of the website. Cancellation is handled through the same channel used for payment (Paddle), with no extra steps.
  2. After cancelling, no fee is charged from the next billing date, and the Service can be used until the end of the period already paid for.
  3. To cancel with a refund (Article 8, paragraphs 1 and 2), contact customer support or Paddle buyer support.

Article 10 (Licenses and Changing PCs)

  1. The Company connects a free trial or subscription to one of the user's PCs and issues a license.
  2. To change PCs, disconnect the old PC (Start menu shortcut “스피치미러 PC 연결 해제”, SpeechMirror: disconnect this PC) and then sign in on the new PC. A free trial cannot be moved to another PC.
  3. If the PC is lost or broken and cannot be disconnected, the user can disconnect it on My account. This can be done up to twice every 30 days per subscription; beyond that, contact customer support.
  4. The Company may revoke a license if it was obtained improperly or the license check was circumvented, or if the subscription was refunded or its payment reversed.

Article 11 (Training Records)

  1. Materials the user creates in the program, such as recorded voices, trainee information and training and check records (“training records”), are stored only on the user's PC and are not sent to the Company's server.
  2. When a trial or subscription ends, training records remain on the PC. The user can view, print and delete them with “View records only”, or export them as CSV files. New training and pronunciation checks are available only during a trial or subscription.
  3. Because the Company does not keep training records, users should back them up themselves if needed. The Company cannot recover training records lost through PC failure or other causes.
  4. Trainees' personal information is managed by the user (teacher or organization) who collected it, in accordance with applicable law.

Article 12 (User Obligations)

  1. Users must use the Service for pronunciation teaching, training and coaching, and must not copy, distribute, rent or sell the program or content, reverse engineer or modify them, or circumvent the license check.
  2. Users must comply with applicable law, these Terms and the instructions for the Service.

Article 13 (Company Obligations and Limitation of Liability)

  1. The Company strives to provide the Service reliably.
  2. The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, power outages, communication failures, or failures or conditions of the user's PC, except for damages caused by the Company's intent or negligence.
  3. The Service is a tool that supports pronunciation teaching and training, and is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.

Article 14 (Changes to and Termination of the Service)

  1. The Company may change parts of the Service for operational or technical reasons, and announces changes that matter to users in advance.
  2. If the Company ends the Service, it announces this 30 days in advance and handles the remaining part of any period already paid for in accordance with applicable law.

Article 15 (Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction)

These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute arising from the use of the Service shall be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of Korea.

Addendum

These Terms take effect on October 16, 2026.
